School employee arrested on sex charges

Florida residents consider sexually-motivated crimes against children to be among the most heinous and deplorable acts that an individual can commit. Therefore, law enforcement and the courts take these matters very seriously, and those who stand accused of sex charges are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No one would argue that children should be protected from sexual predators, or that those who commit such acts should be arrested and punished. However, it is important for the public to realize that not every case that makes the nightly news will end in a conviction.

The most recent Florida case involving sex crimes against minors has left a school employee facing serious criminal charges. The 32-year-old man works as a security specialist at an Orange County high school. Officials assert that he engaged in unlawful sexual conduct with a student at that school. He is now charged with sexual activity with a minor, sexual battery and several additional charges.

Police believe that the man bought a cell phone for the student, and then communicated with her on that line. He is accused of manipulating that relationship to the point of paying the teen for sexual favors. In one incident, the girl states that she had been drinking with the man at his home before he carried her to his bed and began having intercourse with her. She told police that she asked him to stop, and that he did as he was asked.

The school employee was suspended after he was arrested, and school officials are in the process of terminating his employment with Orange County. There is no word on how the man intends to respond to the charges against him. Unfortunately, his name and photo have been spread along with the initial reports of the charges, which has undoubtedly led to a loss of standing within the Florida community where he works and lives. Even if the charges are dropped or he is eventually found not guilty of these sex crimes, a great deal of damage has already been done.
