Actor arrested for criminal mischief, grand theft

Many readers will remember the hit television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." One of the actors from that show, Nicholas Brendon, is back in the news, not for a new acting role but over accusations that he trashed a Florida hotel room and refused to pay for his room charges. The 43-year-old actor was arrested in the matter, and may have to address criminal charges in a court of law.

This is not the first arrest for the troubled actor. He was taken into custody in 2010 after being accused of battery of a police officer, resisting arrest and vandalism. Following that incident, he went into a voluntary rehab program. He has previously attempted rehabilitation in 2004.

In the recent incident, Brendon allegedly caused more than $450 in damages to his hotel room, then refused to pay for that damage or a $380 bill for food and beverage service. Later, he was reportedly found asleep in a vehicle belonging to a member of the hotel staff. He now faces charges of criminal mischief and grand theft in relation to the incident.

As his legal team prepares to answer these charges, a representative for the actor has issued a statement claiming that Brendon is planning to seek treatment for his medical and personal issues. It is not yet known how his legal team will present his defense in court, but in many cases where drug or alcohol addiction is a factor when an individual is arrested, the court is asked to consider mandatory rehab as part of the sentencing process. While this matter is still a considerable way from reaching a Florida court, it is possible that the outcome could assist Brendon in attaining a more stable and healthy future.
